1. Hilary Rhoda

On October 10, supermodel Hilary Rhoda was married to Sean Avery, former NHL player, on the gorgeous grounds of Long Island’s Parrish Art Museum. Her Caroline Herrera column gown was a revelation in understated sophistication, with a black fastening at the neck, halter neckline, low back, and sage green details. 14.7 carats of sparkling Chopard diamonds added the mesmerizing final touch.

2. Sofia Hellqvist

Stockholm’s Slottskyrkan was the setting of Sofia Hellqvist and Prince Carl Philip of Sweden’s wedding on June 13. The new former-reality-TV-star-turned-Duchess wore a custom-made dress by Swedish designer Ida Sjöstedt. In a soft echo of Kate Middleton’s own style on the big day, Sofia’s long-sleeved lace dress with a portrait neckline was sweet yet glamorous. Her look was finished off with an emerald-and-diamond tiara, gifted by King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia — not too shabby for an accessory.

3. Kim Sears

After 9 year of being in a relationship, Kim Sears tied the knot with Scottish professional tennis player Andy Murray, in the groom’s hometown, Dunblane. Kim emerged in a bespoke vintage-style gown by British designer Jenny Packham, the sleeves and waistband hand-beaded in Swarovski crystals. While the empire line of the dress and the cut veered more towards modest and traditional, a low-cut back and gathered bust added a slightly modern touch, all together creating a perfectly romantic, sweet wedding look.

4. Beatrice Borromeo

Beatrice Borromea had no less than six bridal gowns for her double wedding celebrations with Princess Caroline of Monaco’s son Pierre Cariraghi: one in Monte Carlo in a civil ceremony; and the second in Italy, the bride’s home country. For the latter, she paid homage to her homeland by wearing Giorgi Armani. The silk chiffon-layered, ivory-colored dress from the luxury label’s Prive collection had a flared silhouette in Chantilly lace and was gently set off by an equally delicate silk tulle veil.

5. Nicky Hilton

In July, hotel heiress Nicky Hilton married her fiancée James Rothchild in Prince William and Kate’s London home of Kensington Palace. For Nicky, ever since she was a little girl, she had her heart set on Valentino as the designer for her dress. On the big day, she fulfilled her dream. She stepped out in an ethereally beautiful couture creation: a long-sleeved high-necklined guipure lace gown sparkling with crystals, with a long train. The last finishing touch was a set of Christian Louboutin pumps with “Mrs. Rothchild” beautifully inscribed on the heels.

6. Tina Knowles

Aboard a yacht in sunny Newport Beach, California, on April 12, Tina Knowles was married to actor Richard Lawson. Breaking with tradition, Tina had her entire bridal party dressed all in chic white, with red lipstick. Her own floor-sweeping dress was a stunning Romona Keveza creation from the designer’s Spring2014 bridal collection. The look was completed by a striking gold-belted waist and bright red lip, proving that style is, in fact, inherited in the famous Knowles family.

7. Heather Morris

In the spring, Heather Morris, best known as the cheerleader Brittany from hit TV show Glee, tied the knot with high school sweetheart Taylor Hubbell. The two were married at Old Canyon Ranch in Topanga, California, accompanied by many of Glee’s co-stars, making the day enchantingly musical. Heather kept it low-key and traditional with a white gown that featured a pearl-studded banded waist and cut-out back, proving that a dress doesn’t need to break the mold in order to be wonderfully memorable.
